Community Appearance Forum
Feb 26th, 2014
Keep Mobile Beautiful is teaming up with the Tillman's Corner Chamber of Commerce to host our first Community Appearance Forum on Wednesday, February 26 at the Tillman's Corner Community Center. The Forum will be held from 10:00 a.m. – noon. The Forum will focus attention on both the individual and commercial responsibilities for maintaining their properties to a high standard based on the Litter, Tree, Sign and Landscape Ordinances. City of Mobile officials will review each of the ordinances and highlight the sections that should be of specific interest to citizens and commercial property owners.
The main focus of the Forum will be the Litter Ordinance. Litter is an important issue because we have so much of it. Everyone has a responsibility to prevent litter. Those in attendance will learn about the eight sources of litter and what can be done to prevent litter from those sources. The Forum will also address the importance of proper stormwater management and the protection of the sensitive eco system surrounding Mobile's many watershed areas.
"The Tillman's Corner community is extremely important to the overall appearance of the Mobile area", says Bob Haskins, Coordinator of Keep Mobile Beautiful. "Tillman's Corner is the southeastern gateway into our city and should reflect a good first impression."
The Forum will also cover volunteer opportunities for citizens to get involved on a personal level for the good of the community. Coming in April will be the Great American Cleanup (GAC) – the largest organized litter cleanup and beautification event of the year. Sponsored nationally by Keep America Beautiful, the GAC seeks out volunteers to select sites in their community to clean up and beautify.
Anyone interested in attending the Forum is asked to call Keep Mobile Beautiful at
208-6029 to reserve a place at the table.
