Come Watch the RSA Tower Get Its Spire

The new king of the Mobile skyline is getting its crown as the RSA Tower’s spire is attached by helicopter Saturday.

“This is one of Mobile’s most unique jewels,” Mayor Jones said. “Mobile has watched for months the construction of the building, so the installation of the spire is a welcomed sight.”

For safety, citizens are asked to view the crowning of the building from the USS Alabama Battleship Park on the causeway. It will start at 9 a.m. and last til about 1 p.m. Come out and enjoy hot dogs, drinks and ice cream and listen to WABB-FM broadcast live while watching this historic event.

The total project includes the renovation of the historic Battle House Hotel, the 35-story RSA Tower, a five-story parking deck and a fitness center with a spa, pool and tennis courts. Included in the 35 stories are 25 floors devoted to office space, three for lobby, four for hotel rooms and one for service.
