Cleanup Mobile One Neighborhood at a Time - Great American Cleanup Week: April 21 – 28, 2012
Apr 5th, 2012
During one week, hundreds of volunteers from across the City of Mobile will lend a hand to spruce up their parks, neighborhoods and rivers. Keep Mobile Beautiful has joined the Great American Cleanup campaign during April 21 - 28, 2012. The Great American Cleanup (GAC) is the nation’s largest organized annual cleanup, beautification and community improvement program.
Keep Mobile Beautiful is calling on schools, churches, community groups, organizations, businesses and volunteers to take a week to cleanup their neighborhoods. To help make this national initiative a success, Keep Mobile Beautiful is providing each group with cleanup supplies, GLAD trash bags, litter grabbers, gloves and safety vests.
This year’s Great American Cleanup will take place in all seven city council districts with a friendly competition to see which district can involve the most volunteers. In addition to the district cleanups, Mobile’s Great American Cleanup will focus its efforts on cleaning up littered portions of the Dog River Watershed on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Registration is free and easy! To form a team or volunteer, contact Keep Mobile Beautiful at 251-208-6029 or register online at the HandsOn South Alabama website: www.handsonal.org. Information on where to pick-up supplies and trash drop-off sites can be found in the registration packet.
Join Keep Mobile Beautiful, the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP), Associated General Contractors (AGC), Envision Coastal Alabama, HandsOn South Alabama, Mobile Gas and hundreds of volunteers as they work together for a cleaner, greener Mobile. A community Cleanup Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Springdale Mall behind Burlington Coat Factory.
