Mobile, AL (December 15, 2000) - The City of Mobile, Alabama today unveiled its newest version of the World Wide Web site, http://www.cityofmobile.org The site, one of the most comprehensive and visually stunning city government web sites on the web, was conceptualized, designed, and developed by the local Mobile-based full service new media design firm Dogwood Productions.
This new City of Mobile web site is a remarkable achievement for Dogwood as it represents a combination of great design and state-of-the-art technology. Building on the success of the initial web site, the new web site offers a new layout and design, an improved calendar of events, a new city department database, greatly improved search functionality, more online transaction and feedback mechanisms, online poll capability, new interactive maps, and much more.
According to City of Mobile Public Relations Director Justina Strong, ãWe are always looking for new ways to get information to the public in an efficient, accurate, and easily accessible manner. Dogwood has developed a web site which portrays our city in a professional light while placing valuable government resources at the fingertips of internet users - anytime, anywhereä.
This sentiment is reflected throughout the site. The latest City Council agendas, minutes, audio is available to keep everyone up-to-date on the very latest news. The TimeSaver page contains over 40 forms and applications for users to download to save a trip downtown. Forms are provided from the Revenue Department, Urban Development, the Police Department, Main Street Mobile, Downtown Development, and much more. Learn more about the City of Mobile municipal court system or find local trash pickup schedules. One of the most used features is the Calendar of Events which highlights city wide events throughout the year. You can search events by date, month, or category. You can even submit your own event and subscribe to weekly or monthly email updates to keep you informed.
