City Tax Rates Go Into Effect for Annexed Area, New Public Safety Jurisdiction

On Thursday, November 1, businesses in the recently annexed area and along the Schillinger’s Road corridor will begin collecting the following for the City of Mobile:

· 4% City Sales/Use tax rate. The previous percentage was 2%;

· 5% Restaurant tax rate. The previous percentage was 2%;

· Four cents per gallon of gasoline. The previous amount was two cents.

New businesses in the annexed area will be subject to a minimum $73 business license.
