City of Mobile Workers Win National IT Awards

GMIS International is pleased to announce its 2008 public sector IT award winners. The awards were presented recently at the organization’s conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The annual event was attended by over 240 public sector IT leaders and technology vendors, including 17 international delegates from Canada, Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.Sherryl Cunningham, Database Analyst, from the City of Mobile received the GMIS Outstanding Professional Award. This annual award recognizes IT professionals whose meritorious performance is representative of service delivery excellence in the public sector. Ms. Cunningham was nominated by her boss, CIO Sue Farni who states, “Sherryl finds time to mentor others in the IT department, teaching classes and guiding those less skilled than herself. She has a positive attitude and both her co-workers and people in other departments enjoy working with her. Her skill, professionalism and tenacity make her a model employee."
Elaine Isler, Software Instructor, from the City of Mobile, was recipient of the Hershel Strickland Ambassador of the Year Award. This annual award was presented to Ms. Isler for her years of dedication as Editor of GEM, the official newsletter of GMIS International. Bruce Miller, 2007-08 President, announced the award and stated, “Elaine is a hard-working, long-time advocate whose newsletter over the years has created immeasurable interest in GMIS.”
