City of Mobile Using Energy Efficiency Grant to Upgrade Ball Field Lighting

Mar 30th, 2012

Ball field lighting at City of Mobile parks will get easier and more energy efficient thanks to a contract to replace manual lighting systems with computerized systems at 10 area parks. The contract is paid for entirely by an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) from the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the Recovery Act.

The $117,406 contract went to A to Z Muni-Dot Company and covers Sage, Medal of Honor, Texas Street, Figures, Duval, Dotch, Aaron, Kidd, Hillsdale, and Trimmier parks.

“By utilizing this grant, the City of Mobile is upgrading our facilities while saving money on energy going forward,” said Mayor Sam Jones. “Our staff is constantly looking for these types of programs to improve city services.”

The EECBG Program is a major investment in energy solutions that will strengthen America’s economy and support the immediate use of the cheapest, cleanest, and most reliable energy technologies.
