City of Mobile to launch new Capital Improvement Plan Website
Mar 30th, 2016
Mobile, Ala. - The City of Mobile is launching fixmobile.org - a new capital improvement website for citizens and neighborhood groups to access information about the current status of capital improvement projects. This year, the City is undertaking 200 capital improvement projects across the City to repair streets, sidewalks, ditches, and parks, but there is currently no central location to track each individual project. After studying best practices from other cities, the Administration seeks to establish similar transparency and accountability for the citizens of Mobile.
The new website will share project information, interactive GIS maps, progress metrics and general schedule updates. The City Council unanimously approved the consulting services agreement with Hawksley Consulting to create the new site during Tuesday's Council meeting.
"Because it impacts every citizen in the city, we must execute Year 1 of our Capital Improvement Plan effectively," said Mayor Stimpson. "Over the next three years, every citizen will benefit from this plan as we chip away at a $250 million backlog of broken infrastructure. Through this new website, every citizen will know the progress of projects that impact their home, school and work place."
