City of Mobile Staffer Graduates from National Certification Program

Judy Demeranville, Database Analyst III for the City of Mobile, Alabama, has successfully graduated from the 2010 Certified Government Chief Information Officers (CGCIO™) Program offered by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Government and GMIS International. Ms. Demeranville is part of the third cohort of the UNC CGCIO™ program offered in conjunction with GMIS International.

The CGCIO™ program, started in 2004, is the first local government specific program for CIOs in the nation. The program’s creator was recently honored in Government Technology magazine as being one of the Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers in the US. The CGCIO™ program is designed for local government Information Technology Directors and Chief Information Officers whose responsibilities require a broad understanding of management, leadership, and enterprise topics. The course is approximately 240 hours in length. Course instruction covers enterprise issues, strategic technology planning, communication, project management, emerging trends, risk assessment and management, acquisition management, change management, leadership, security, and financial trends.

Judy Demeranville is one of the 9 elite public sector employees who successfully completed the UNC-GMIS course this year. She is the fourth Certified Government Chief Information Officer™ in the state of Alabama. Over the course of its six-year existence, the CGCIO™ program has graduated over 325 public sector IT professionals.
