City of Mobile rededicates British Park

MOBILE, Ala. - The City of Mobile rededicated British Park in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Bowyer, the final land battle of the War of 1812. The entrances to the park have been replaced and improved to commemorate this landmark event.Mayor Stimpson unveiled the new gates at a news conference on Tuesday.
"British park is a gem in the Church Street East neighborhood that offers a place for fellowship," said Mayor Stimpson. "I am committed to restoring all of our parks to connect communities throughout Mobile."
Stimpson was joined at the rededication by Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford, Consul General of Great Britain.
"I am honored to welcome Mr. Pilmore-Beford to celebrate 200 years of peace and friendship between the United States and Great Britain," said Stimpson.
