Dec 1st, 2009

On Tuesday, December 1, 2009 during the City Council meeting the Mayor will introduce the Marines who the city is coordinating the Toys for Tots campaign. This is the second year the City has worked with the United States Marine Corp with the Toys for Tots drive. This year we have set 27 toy drop-off locations at all Police Precincts and Fire Stations throughout the City of Mobile, as well as 205 Government Plaza and the Weed and Seed Office in Toulminville. This year Mr. Walt Dickerson, former Director of the Emergency Management System will be the City’s representative.

Applications for assistance are taken at 205 Government Plaza and the Weed and Seed Office in Toulminville. Also DHR, Mobile Housing Board, and the Wings of Life church are taking applications. The Marines cut-off date for accepting applications is December 1, 2009, however the City has elected to continue to accept applications until 12 noon, December 4, 2009.

Last year the City of Mobile assisted over 400 families and more than 2000 children and youth through the Toys for Tots program.
