City Council Approves Alert Notification System

Oct 2nd, 2007

The Mobile City Council approved a contract for a system that will improve the emergency preparedness of our citizens. The City of Mobile, under a partnership with the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency and Mobile County, will sign a deal with Connect-CTY/NTI for an emergency alert notification system.

The service allows the city, for the first time in its history, to send out thousands of voice, email, and text messages to citizens in minutes. This will be especially useful during events such as a hurricanes or Amber Alerts. The alerts can be sent out to specific areas or county-wide.
