Christus Lecture Series to Feature J.R.R. Tolkien Expert March 10

Mobile, Ala. - Rev. Richard Donohoe, Vicar and C.E.O. of the Diocese of Birmingham and rector of the Cathedral of St. Paul, will be the featured speaker for Spring Hill College’s annual Christus Lecture Thursday, March 10. The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in the Gautrelet Room on the College campus.

Donohoe will explore the religious roots of J.R.R. Tolkien’s best-selling trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings," an imaginiative narrative of life’s struggles, challenges and promise. Donohoe has academic degrees from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, the University of the South in Sweanee, and the Gregorian University in Rome. He has served on the Alabama Shakespeare Board of Governors and continues to pursue a longtime interest in the life and writings of Tolkien.

The lecture is free for Christus members and $2 for guests. For more information, call the Division of Philosophy and Theology at 251-380-4660. Guests should enter from Dauphin Street and bear to the right at the top of the hill. Park in the Administration Building or Moore Hall lots.
