Chief Phillip Garrett Sworn In

Jul 11th, 2006

Phillip Garrett was officially sworn in as Chief of the Mobile Police during the City Council Meeting. Circuit Court Judge James Wood presided over the ceremony. It took place moments after the City Council unanimously ratified Mayor Jones’s selection of Garrett, a 33-year veteran of the Mobile Police Department.

“I am excited about the future of this police department,” said Chief Garrett. “This is the culmination of several years of hard work. But this is only the beginning. We are going to make this the best force in the nation.”

Chief Garrett thanked his family, many of whom were in attendance, for their support. He also thanked the mayor and the council for their support of his selection.

Former Police Chief Harold Johnson presented Chief Garrett with his four-stars, the designation of the Chief on his uniform, and a four-star cap.
