CALLING ALL "CROWS" FOR SCARECROW CONTEST AT BELLINGRATH GARDENS AND HOME

September 30, 2004 - Mobile, AL - Bellingrath Gardens and Home is calling all "crows" for its first Scarecrow Contest! This wonderful event is an opportunity for arts organizations, high schools, businesses and clubs to show their creativity and build a scarecrow. All entries will be judged on Saturday, October 30 by a panel of judges from the local arts community. The scarecrows will be displayed throughout the Gardens October 30 - November 15. All "crows" will be judged on originality and theme. A cash prize will be awarded for the most original, funniest, best organizational theme and best traditional. This is a great opportunity to publicize your organization or special event during one of Bellingrath's most beautiful and busiest seasons.

The Scarecrow Contest is a new activity of Bellingrath's Annual Mum Festival which celebrates the peak of the annual fall Chrysanthemum display. This year's festival day is Saturday, November 13th and will include music, hot air balloon rides, southern crafts, children's activities, fall foods and a pumpkin cooking contest. Thousands of mums will be displayed in cascades, columns, baskets and beds in the fall colors of yellow, orange, white, red and gold will be in full bloom November 7-21.
