BRATS to Begin Third Baylinc Bus Route

Jun 16th, 2008

A third bus route will be added to Baylinc by the Baldwin Rural Area Transportation System to accommodate increases in passenger numbers and public demand.

The new route will begin June 30, traveling from Fairhope, Daphne and Spanish Fort to Bienville Square in downtown Mobile.

Baylinc is a joint effort between BRATS and The Wave Transit System of Mobile. The two county systems started their initial routes in November. Last month, BRATS passenger trips totaled 1,136, reflecting a 29 percent increase.

Fares range from $1.50 to $3, depending on distances. Baylinc routes connect with Wave routes at Bienville Square, where residents can select their Mobile destination for a fare of $1.25, or return to a Baldwin County location. Parking at Eastern Shore stops is free.
