This is a timely workshop designed to help women who may be new business owners, or inexperienced business people to understand the dynamics of relationships and communication in order to ask for and get what she needs to move her business forward.  "Many women are very good at doing their business, but they are inexperienced or too shy to go out and ask for and get the business" says Danette Richards, Director of the Women's Business Center of Southern Alabama.  "If women spent some time working on building confidence in communication, I believe they would see some nice financial results.  For the most part women are taught from a young age to "play nice" and we don't learn the communication and negotiating lessons the boys learn."

During this workshop participants will discuss the elements of making a positive memorable first impression; dissect the communication process to understand where her strengths and areas of improvement exist; discuss and define the difference between assertive and aggressive communications; discuss strategies for responding professionally to criticism; discuss impact of verbal and non verbal communications; discuss how to say "No" in a calm and effective manner.  At the end of this session, participants will complete a personal action plan for becoming more assertive in business interactions.
