Ben May Main Library Reopening

Citizens are invited to celebrate the reopening of the Ben May Main Library (701 Government Street) on Thursday, May 31, 2007, starting at 10:00 a.m. Various city officials will attend the event and Mobile's Singing Children will perform.

The new facility, which will have double the public space, will feature an expanded children's area, a community room and reception area, a technology center, 65 Internet accessible computers, 161 reading seats, a coffee bar with Creative Café food area and an improved southeast entrance. The original reading room will be restored to look similar to the way it did when the main library first opened in 1928.
