BayFest Unveils Artwork for 2009 Festival and Announces Change to Ticket On-Sale Date

May 20th, 2009

BayFest, Mobile’s Music Festival, recently offered area artists an incredible opportunity during the music festival’s 15th anniversary year – a chance to design the official BayFest poster, which will influence the look of the entire festival for 2009. Approximately 30 submissions were received and reviewed by BayFest officials.

The winning piece, created by Fairhope resident Sam Gambino, was unveiled on Wednesday. Sam, whose great love and appreciation for vintage art is evident in his work, has shown his art in galleries both inside and outside the United States. More information and samples of Gambino’s other work can be found at www.samgambino.com.

In addition to serving as the festival’s 2009 poster art, the winning design will be featured on the BayFest website (www.bayfest.com), in the ticket and on-site brochure designs, and as part of the entire ad campaign for this year’s event.

BayFest officials also announced a change in the on-sale date for weekend passes. In past years, weekend passes have been made available for purchase at www.bayfest.com on August 1. Due to unprecedented demand, tickets for this year’s festival will be available on July 1, giving patrons an extra month to purchase tickets through the festival’s website. Weekend passes will also be available at ticket outlets in early September at locations that will be announced at a later date. Since 2004, three-day passes have remained at the low price of just $35, offering music lovers an opportunity to experience a wide variety of acts for just a fraction of what they might pay to see one act at other venues.

The 15th Annual BayFest Music Festival will be held October 2-4, 2009 in the streets of Downtown Mobile. BayFest is the host of more than 125 national, regional and local artists who play on nine stages over a three-day weekend. Confirmed acts for the 2009 festival include the Steve Miller Band, T-Pain, Akon, and Alan Jackson. More acts will be announced soon. For more information, visit www.bayfest.com.
