Traffic Alert: Athey Rd. at Zeigler Blvd. to close Jan. 3-5

Mobile, Ala. — Athey Road will close at Zeigler Blvd. from Jan. 3 to Jan. 5, 2024, so the City of Mobile can complete drainage and roadway construction related to the ongoing Zeigler Blvd. Project.
The closure WILL NOT impact east or westbound traffic on Zeigler Blvd. Due to the closure of Athey Road at Zeigler Blvd., a detour route from Overlook Road (north of Zeigler Blvd.) to Middle Ring Road (east of Athey Road) will be required. A map of the detour is available below.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
The Ziegler Blvd. Project is investing more than $30 million into one of Mobile’s most highly trafficked corridors. Once completed, it will alleviate traffic congestion and improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The project is supported by federal, state and local dollars.
