Alabama Sports Festival Honors Fire Fighters, EMS, Law Enforcement Personnel

Aug 10th, 2009

The Alabama Legislature, the Alabama Sports Festival, and the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness presented HONORING OUR ALABAMA HEROES medals to Firefighters and EMS personnel who were unable to receive them at the 2009 Opening Ceremonies of the Alabama Sports Festival State Games in Birmingham. Also, Mobile County District Attorney John M. Tyson, Jr., along with other Law Enforcement and Military personnel received specially designed medals for their outstanding service to their community and state. Over 2,000 Alabama Firefighters, EMS, and Law Enforcement personnel were awarded medals honoring their service during the Alabama Sports Festival Opening Ceremonies. Today’s ceremony is one of a series of ceremonies statewide giving area Firefighters, EMS, and Law Enforcement personnel who were not able to attend the Opening Ceremonies another opportunity to receive the specially minted medal for their devoted service to their community and state.

The medals were minted specifically to honor our Alabama Heroes, and presentations are supported by Resolutions of both Houses of the Alabama State Legislature and signed by Governor Bob Riley.
