Alabama Minority Business Enterprise Center Opens

Mobile Mayor Sam Jones welcomed Ronald Langston, National Director for the Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), as they dedicated the new Alabama Minority Business Enterprise Center. The center will assist minority businesses get loans, technical assistance and federal contracts.

The center will also help the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce create more opportunities for minority businesses by exposing them to new industry markets and financial capital sources.

“This is great for Mobile to have this center here, especially considering the growth and economy. It is essential to make all businesses viable for growth in our area,” said Mayor Jones. “It is vitally important that all businesses benefit from that growth.”

Mr. Langston, who was appointed to his position by President George W. Bush, pledged his support to the Mobile area, saying he would do anything possible to improve the business climate for minorities.
