After Christmas Recycling With Keep Mobile Beautiful

Don’t add to the after Christmas garbage and trash problem piling up in Mobile - recycle after Christmas ….. and all year long! Here are a few tips from Keep Mobile Beautiful on how to be a good after Christmas recycler. First, make sure you know what CAN and CANNOT be recycled.

RECYCLE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE!

Recyclable Christmas materials can be delivered to the Metro Recycling Center located at 1451 Government Street from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. seven days a week.

Here is what you CAN bring in for recycling:
 Paper gift boxes and bags – boxes must be flat, no plastic gift bags.
 Wrapping and tissue paper
 Cards, envelopes and other paper goods
 Paper and cardboard packaging
 Corrugated cardboard boxes – boxes must be flat
 Styrofoam packing peanuts – securely packaged in a box or plastic bag – give to attendant
 Used cooking oil
Remember that ALL boxes MUST be flattened!

Here is what you CANNOT bring:
 No ribbon and bows
 No Mylar or Tyvec type wrapping material (material you can’t tear)
 No block Styrofoam
 No plastic/clamshell packaging from toys, tools, etc.
 No plastic or wax coated boxes, bags or cartons

Old electronics can be delivered to Equit-E-Cycle at Brookley, any Goodwill Easterseals Donation stations and Best Buy at Springdale.
