AERIAL SPRAYING TO BEGIN EARLY JUNE

Jun 1st, 2004

Aerial spraying for the control of adult mosquito populations by the Mobile County Health Department will begin in early June. Low-level flights over sparsely populated FAA approved routes of Mobile County are conducted to reach those areas generally inaccessible to ground spray vehicles. Ultra low volumes of sumithrin insecticide will be used from the plane to control salt-marsh mosquito hatch-offs in these areas.

Aerial spray activities will continue throughout the summer months, weather permitting and as necessary. The approved aerial spray routes include areas of south Mobile County such as the Fowl and Dog River marshes, Dauphin Island, Heron Bay, and Hollinger’s Island as well as McDuffie Island and other coastal areas in the County.
