AAFL Training Camp to Be Held in Mobile

The All American Football League (AAFL) and the Mobile Bay Sports Authority announced today that the new football league will hold its first ever training camp in Mobile in March, 2008.

Mayor Sam Jones; City Council President, Reggie Copeland; Director of the Mobile Bay Sports Authority, Bud Ratliff; along with Keenan Davis, AAFL VP of League Operations & COO made the training camp announcement today at the Mobile Government Plaza.

Also in attendance were Leon Maisel, Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau (MBCVB) President & CEO; Joe Cribbs, AAFL Team Alabama President; Ken Stabler, AAFL Spokesman, University of Alabama quarterback (1964-67) and Foley, Alabama native; and members of the Mobile City Council and the Mobile County Commission.

"The decision to hold our first training camp in Mobile was an easy one, with the unrivaled practice and meeting facilities, the accommodations and particularly the hospitality of the people of Mobile," said Davis. "The League and its six teams are eager to kick off our first practices here in March."

All six teams will train in Mobile, with the first full squad practice of the AAFL's inaugural training camp being held on March 13, 2008. Practices will continue through Saturday, March 29. All practices will be open to the public.

The AAFL has partnered with the National Football League (NFL) Officiating Program to provide training sessions for all coaches on AAFL playing rules and regulations during training camp. The NFL will also provide officiating crews for all thirty AAFL regular season games, two playoff games and the championship game.

The All American Football League teams will play 10 games, beginning in April 2008. The spring schedule is designed to satisfy fans who hunger for quality football between the NFL and college seasons. The League's teams are located in avid college football markets representing Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and Texas.
