911 Dispatcher Honored for Life Saving Response

Feb 3rd, 2009

It's the most frightful experiences a parent can endure. On November 28 of last year, 911 Dispatcher Sonnette Buzbee took a call from a family with an infant who was not responding and suffering cardiac arrest.

She calmly and professionally walked the parents of the baby through the steps of CPR. Within minutes, the sound of a crying baby sent a message to Ms. Buzbee and the parents that the child had been revived. Today, the parents are happy to report that the child is healthy and doing fine.

The tape of the 911 call was played at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 3. The crowd gave Buzbee a standing ovation for her efforts. Mayor Jones and Mobile Fire-Rescue Chief Steve Dean honored Buzbee for her heroic response on that day.
