3rd Annual Mayor's Art Contest Begins

Oct 1st, 2012

Initially started as a Weed and Seed initiative, the Mayor’s Art Contest has a three-year history which has enjoyed excellent student participation with winners who have contributed cherished works of art that continue to be on display in Government Plaza.

Today, we are pleased to announce the 3rd annual Mayor's Art Contest for the elementary and middle school students in the City of Mobile. The contest begins October 1st and ends October 15th, culminating in an Awards Ceremony on October 30th, 2012. This year’s theme is ‘Music of Mobile’.

The traditions of this event are continuing through the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Initiatives and this year the event has expanded to include students from throughout the entire city of Mobile.

We are, also, privileged to have this year’s contest and art exhibit sponsored by Broussard's Piano Gallery & Academy of Music here in Mobile. We thank Chris and Christy Myers of Broussard’s for the display placement in our atrium of a Steinway piano that is beautifully decorated with the work of local artist Devlin Wilson and depicting scenes from our fair city.

Elementary and Middle school students are encouraged to enter the contest and will find on-line registration at broussardspianos.com/.
