MLK 2023 March And Rally

Join us for this year’s Dr. King Community March and Rally, where we’ll celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and support his vision of a Beloved Community that improves the quality of life for all people. When: Monday, January 16, from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Where: Charter bus leaves from USA Student Center at 11:00 a.m. The march starts at noon with the rally at Cathedral Square immediately after. After you RESPOND to this Need, please use this link to let us know if you plan to ride the charter bus. If you’re taking your own transportation, meet at Dearborn YMCA (321 N. Warren St., Mobile, AL 36603) at Noon. Who: All USA students, staff, and faculty. USA alumni and members of the larger community are welcome to attend as well, although they do not need to sign up for this event via South Serves. Alumni and community members should meet up with us at Dearborn YMCA at Noon. Service Hours: Any students, faculty, or staff who wish to track service hours in South Serves for participating in this event, please make sure to check in with Office of Community Engagement staff at the event and add your name to the sign-in sheet. You can also send a picture of yourself at the event to communityengagement@southalabama.edu. T-shirts: T-shirts commemorating MLK 2023 will be given out on a first-come/first-served basis to those who participate in this event. They can be picked up at the USA Office of Community Engagement (Student Center suite 240) the week of January 16. IMPORTANT: USA students, faculty, and staff are required to sign a waiver, which will be available electronically when you click the RESPOND button for this Need. After you've electronically signed the waiver, click the RESPOND button a second time in order to complete your registration. (NOTE: In Alabama, if you are under 19, a parent or guardian must sign the waiver.)
