Vacant House Fire Appears to be Arson

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org VACANT HOUSE FIRE APPEARS TO BE ARSON Mobile firefighters responded to a vacant house that appears to have been deliberately set on fire early Tuesday morning, September 4. The remains of the single-story, wood frame structure is located at 1252 Eslava Lane. The call was received at approximately 1:41 a.m. and firefighters arrived at approximately 1:45 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire coming through the roof of the structure. Firefighters found the structure secure and had to force entry to gain access to combat the fire. Fire Investigators on the scene were told the structure had only been vacant for two days prior to the fire. Fire Investigators discovered evidence to indicate that the fire may have been deliberately set. Fire Investigators are looking for Donyelle Lazell Dunklin a.ka. Donnelle Lazell Parrish, who is a person of interest for questioning pertaining to the Arson 2nd fire. Dunklin is described as being a black female, 25 years of age, 5’9” and 190 lbs. She may be traveling in the Prichard area driving a 1998 Gray GMC Jimmy 4 door SUV. Damage is estimated at approximately $65 thousand. No injuries were reported in the incident. Anyone with any information regarding the fire are asked to call the Mobile Fire Marshal’s Office at 208-7484/after hours call 208-7311. Engines 9, 11, 16, truck 24, rescue 24 and District 2 Chief Randy Smith responded to the incident. ###
