Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 10:10 p.m. for a report of a residential fire in the 1200 block of Texas Street in Mobile, Alabama, Tuesday night, January 28, 2025.
Engine 8 arrived on the scene of a single story, wood frame residence with heavy fire showing from the front. Other crews arrived and firefighters entered the structure to extinguish the fire. Inside, they were met with a considerable quantity of household items and other obstacles blocking their path.
Because of recent company-level training, crews took a different approach and removed burglar bars on a rear window to gain an alternate path.
“You can’t approach everything through the front door,” District Chief Brandon Jackson said. “They went through the windows on this one.”
The fire is under investigation at this time. The residence was unoccupied and searches found no people inside, but did find a cat that was deceased. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Districts 1 and 3 Chiefs, Engines 2, 3, 8, and 9, Truck 4, Rescue 8, Rehab 1, and Car 80 were dispatched to this fire.
