At approximately 11:29 AM, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies responded to the 900 block of Shady Brook Drive for reports of a residence on fire in the area. Upon arrival, fire personnel described a two-story home with visible flames at the rear and thick smoke present throughout the area.
Additional companies were dispatched at 11:34 AM to assist at the scene. Crews immediately established fire scene operations, stretching hose lines and entering the structure to begin the initial attack.
Search and rescue teams swept through the structure to confirm that no civilians were trapped inside. All occupants were confirmed to have escaped the home prior to MFRD arrival on scene.
After battling waves of flame and heat for more than 30 minutes, firefighters were able to successfully get the fire under control. The structure sustained significant damage from fire, smoke, and water.
Although Investigators continue to review the scene, the cause of the fire has been deemed accidental, with no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
