Mobile, Ala. — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is asking residents to shelter in place within a two-mile radius of 5327 Halls Mill Road in Mobile, Alabama, as a precautionary measure after a hazardous materials incident. This area includes parts of Tillman’s Corner, Cypress Shores, Crestview and Rivière du Chien.
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 7:03 a.m. for a report of commercial building fire in the 5300 block of Halls Mill Road in Mobile, Alabama, Saturday, June 1, 2024.
District 2 Chief was first on scene noting multiple vehicles on fire behind a warehouse. He also noted that power lines were down in the area.
Crews established a water supply and extinguished the fire. Palettes of pool chlorine material at the scene were reacting with water, and Hazmat 15 was dispatched to the scene.
As of 8:49 a.m., personnel are still on the scene mitigating the incident. An update on when the shelter-in-place order will be lifted will follow.
