4:04 p.m. — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 2:26 p.m. for a report of an apartment fire at Place Levert off of Old Shell Road in Mobile, Alabama, Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The fire was called in to dispatch by a passerby and someone on scene.

Units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke visible from an attic window in a two-story multi-unit townhome. Crews entered and found heavy smoke conditions inside with low visibility. They made their way to the attic and extinguished the fire, which had burned through the roof. The quick stop of the fire prevented it from igniting two adjacent units that shared a common attic.

Primary and secondary searches were completed, with no one found.

The unit was unoccupied and undergoing renovation. The fire is under investigation at this time. There were no reports of any injuries.

The adjacent units suffered smoke and water damage. Crews are still on scene at this time, making sure all hotspots are extinguished.
