Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org ORANGE GROVE APARTMENT FIRE Mobile firefighters responded to a fire in the attic of an apartment complex at 267 First Court at Bloodgood and Jackson Streets Thursday, December 22, 2005. The fire was reported at approximately 5:47 A.M. and firefighters arrived at approximately 5:52 A.M. to discover heavy fire coming through the roof of the one-story brick and wood frame constructed building. A second alarm response was called for because of the size of the building and there were at least seven apartment units in the building. The fire originated in the attic and spread throughout the attic area. There was no fire damage to the units below. The building, part of the Mobile Housing Boards Orange Grove housing complex, was vacant and being renovated for future occupancy. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no utilities activated in the building and arson is not suspected at this time. The fire caused an estimated $50 thousand in damage. No injuries were reported. ###
