Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department proudly recognizes Nicholas Robert as the Firefighter of the Month for October 2023. Robert was hired in October 2022 and serves as a firefighter and hazmat technician on Truck 10 at Seelhorst Station. He is commended for giving back to the community.
Recently, on his off days, Robert dedicated his time to making 120 handcrafted ceramic bowls for Art Soup, a signature fundraiser for the Love All Pantry. Each of his bowls featured a handwritten note with a special message. Robert’s desire to be involved with Art Soup stems from his own personal experiences.
“I know what it’s like to be hungry," Robert said. “Growing up, times got tight for us sometimes. We relied on the help of others around us, particularly Catholic Social Services.”
Love All Pantry, located at Central Presbyterian Church at Dauphin Street and Ann Street, feeds thousands of families every year.
“For me this is kind of coming full circle,” Robert said. “Sometimes life leads you to where you need to be, and I feel like I’m right where I need to be.”
Robert credits his University of South Alabama Professor Tony Wright for connecting him to Art Soup. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute using his talent in a way to help others.
