TWO OVERNIGHT FIRES
Mobile firefighters responded to two overnight fires in Mobile; one vacant and one occupied.
The first fire occurred at approximately 11:57 p.m. Sunday evening, May 11, in a vacant structure located on Cone Street. When firefighters arrived on the scene they reported flames showing from the rear of the one-story, wood frame residence. The caller reported the structure was vacant and the occupants had recently moved.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Damage is estimated at approximately $20 thousand.
Engines 12, 14, 15; truck 17; rescue 14 and Captain Bryan Lee responded to the call.
The second fire occurred at approximately 2:41 a.m. this Monday morning, May 12 in an occupied residence located on Bonnie Lane.
The occupant and her three children (3-yr-old male, 5-year-old female and 9-year-old female) escaped without apparent injury after it appears a fire started in the carport area.
When firefighters arrived they reported heavy fire coming from the single story, wood frame structure.
Fire investigators are still on scene working to determine the exact cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at approximately $30 thousand.
Engines 6, 19, 22; truck 5; rescue 22 and District Chief Doug Cooper responded to the fire.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigations.
