TWO OVERNIGHT FIRES
Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to two overnight fires, the first started in a clothes dryer and spread to an adjacent bedroom in a large single-story brick structure located at 269 Chidester Avenue. The fire was reported at approximately 10:46 p.m. Thursday night, May 20. No injuries were reported in the fire that caused an estimated $25 thousand in damage.
Engines 12, 15, 23, truck 10, rescue 14 and District Chief Dexter Pettaway responded.
The second fire occurred this morning, Friday, May 21 at 311 Bishop Phillips Avenue and was reported at approximately 4:03 a.m. Firefighters reported fire in the rear of the one-story, wood frame structure upon arrival. The fire originated in a back bedroom and spread to the attic, the house is a total loss and damage is estimated at approximately $14 thousand. The cause of the fire is being blamed on overloaded electrical wiring. No injuries were reported.
Engines 15, 22, 29, truck 5, rescue 29 and Acting District Chief, Captain Bryan Lee responded.
