Two Injured in Meth Lab Fire on Alston Court

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org TWO INJURED IN METH LAB FIRE ON ALSTON COURT Two women received injuries in a meth lab fire at an apartment they were renting located behind the residence at 2903 Alston Court on Wednesday morning, February 23. The call was received at approximately 7:20 a.m. and firefighters arrived shortly after, reporting heavy smoke and fire coming from the upstairs apartment. Both occupants were found outside by firefighters and firemedics upon arrival. A 53-year-old female occupant received a 2nd degree burn to her left leg and minor inhalation injury. A 35-year-old female occupant received some smoke inhalation; both were transported by MFRD Rescue 24 to USA Medical Center. The injuries did not appear to be life threatening. The fire originated in a front room of the one bedroom apartment and was caused by a meth lab that ignited. Damaged is estimated at $35 thousand. Engines 2, 16, 20; truck 24; rescue 23, 24 and District Chief John Young responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention, with assistance from MPD Narcotics Division, is investigating the fire. ###
