Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org TRAIN DERAILMENT STATE DOCKS Haz Mat Crews and Firefighters from Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded to a train derailment early Monday, March 6, 2006 at the CSX Rail Yard located at the Alabama State Docks on Industrial Canal Road. The call was received at approximately 4:33 a.m. Three tank cars jumped the track at the Three-Mile Creek Rail Bridge in the yard. One car slid down the embankment and was partially submerged in the creek. Haz Mat Technicians made entry into the site and determined that the cars were empty and there was no release of material and posed no danger. No injuries were reported. The incident was reported to the U.S. Coast Guard and the scene turned over to CSX Railroad. Engines 21, 15, truck 10, rescue 14, Haz Mat 15 and District 1 Chief Bill Glisson responded. ###
