Teenager Arrested After Setting Fire in House

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org TEENAGER ARRESTED AFTER SETTING FIRE IN HOUSE Investigators with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department arrested a 15-year-old boy this afternoon after the teenager set a fire in his bedroom while his two sisters were in the structure. The fire occurred at 304 Union Avenue on Thursday, October 25. The call was received at approximately 11:49 a.m. and firefighters arrived at approximately 11:54 a.m. reporting heavy fire and smoke showing from the 1-story, wood frame residence. The teenager was arrested at the scene and transported to Strickland Youth Center and will be charged with Arson 1st degree because the structure was occupied at the time the fire was set. The fire remains under investigation. The fire caused an estimated $40 thousand in damage. All escaped without apparent injuries. Engines 12, 15, 18, truck 10, rescue 23 and District 3 Chief Alex Trenier responded to the incident. ###
