Suspicious Fire at Mobile Housing Board Facility

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org SUSPICIOUS FIRE AT MOBILE HOUSING BOARD FACILITY Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Investigators are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at a Mobile Housing Board facility located at 1517 Plaza Drive Wednesday morning, March 26. The fire was reported by a passerby at approximately 5:07 a.m. Firefighters arrived at approximately 5:13 a.m. reporting flames coming from an “open end” 20x100 storage shed. Firefighters had to cut a lock off a rear gate to make entry onto the property and extinguish the fire. Fire investigators are listing the fire as suspicious at this time and are still investigating the cause. The fire caused an estimated $15 thousand in damage. The shed contained lawn tractors, roofing singles and other housing board equipment. No injuries were reported.
