On Monday, September 2, 2019, at approximately 5:45 am, Public Safety Dispatcher I Shemeka Harrison was on her way to work when she witnessed an automobile accident near Springhill Avenue and Stanton Road. A car had hit a power pole, knocking down live wires, and gas was leaking from the vehicle. PSDI Harrison stopped to assist the driver, making sure they were safe until emergency personnel arrived on scene.
PSDI Harrison used her training and went the extra mile. Words and awards cannot adequately represent the appreciation of the City of Mobile or the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.
