In 1994, Fire Service Captain Samuel L. Allen departed the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office to begin his career with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department. Captain Allen has progressed through the ranks of the Department, while continuing to further his knowledge in fire service, inspections, and code enforcement.
Captain Allen’s presence in MFRD’s Community Risk Reduction Division sets a standard of quality customer service second-to-none. Through the years, Captain Allen has been recognized and applauded by citizens, businesses, community organizations, and even other City departments for his tireless efforts, endless knowledge, professionalism, and easy-going personality.
So much so, that Mayor Stimpson’s Office received a 2-page letter from a local, prominent business owner praising Captain Allen with glowing remarks:
“In [my] forty year career, I have dealt with many different fire jurisdictions . . . I can apply with all honesty my highest commendation for Sam in the area of ‘code enforcement & permitting’ . . . Sam represents the best of persons within the city’s ranks of personnel. Ultimately I am very hopeful that you and the others might see fit to call out and recognize Sam’s very fine representation of what is ultimately what we could hope all of the city’s employees represent themselves to the people they serve.”
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department personnel know all-too-well the exemplary service and standard set by Captain Allen. To know and experience the 28-year veteran and quiet professionalism is to know that you’re in good hands and great company.
“We’re not surprised at all that he receives those accolades. Captain Allen consistently shows us all how the job should be done,” states Fire Chief Jeremy Lami, in response to the letter to the Mayor.
Therefore, Fire Chief Lami and the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department are proud to recognize Fire Service Captain Samuel L. Allen as the OCTOBER 2020 Firefighter of the Month.
