Mobile Fire-Rescue Department
Welcomes Newest Firefighters
Mobile, AL – After 20 weeks of mentally draining and physically grueling training, 32 recruits (including 3 Saraland and 1 Semmes) join the ranks of Firefighter. On July 20th, the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department held a graduation ceremony for its newest firefighters – recruit class 18-01. Recruits-turned-firefighters walked across a stage with excitement and pride with their families and friends in attendance, as they received their badges and warm, congratulatory handshake from Fire Chief Mark Sealy.
Buffalo Bills Quarterback and Mobile-native A.J. McCarron gave a heartfelt speech to the class of graduates, sharing stories of growing up in the firehouse and experiencing firsthand adversities that the firefighters will soon face. McCarron, whose father, Tony, has been a Mobile firefighter for several years, challenged Mobile’s newest class to wear their badges with honor, knowing that they now represent more than just themselves. Fire Chief Sealy exclaimed, “"There is nothing more noble than the commitment to the service and protection of our community. These Firefighters have made that commitment."
