Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (334) 208-5806/Fax: (334) 208-5813 FIREFIGHTERS PROMOTED TO DRIVERS POSITIONS Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Chief Stephen Dean announced today, Thursday, July 27, 2000 the promotions of 18 firefighters and firemedics to the position of Fire Service Driver. The new promotions will become effective on Saturday, July 29, 2000. The newly promoted drivers have received their new assigments in the department and will report to those beginning Saturday. The firefighters took a written and practical exam to receive the promotion. The newly promoted are: T.D Rogers; M.S. Campbell; C.B. Chappell; J.G. Beatty; T.K. Everett; R.K. Easley; M.A. Sinclair; C.C. Carpenter; W.C. McClain; M.T. Allman; R.A. Pounds; J.S. Lee; H.D. Cranford; J.H. Smith; D.C. Pose; J.R. Norton; R.G. Gilmore; S.A. Hicks. The promoted firefighters will be assigned to drive the different fire apparatus and rescue vehicles in the department and on occasions when a Captain is absent they may be called upon to act Captain on the truck they are assigned too. ###
