MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 3:40 AM, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews were dispatched to Checkers at 3206 Dauphin Street for reports of flames and smoke visible inside of the restaurant. Engine 12 arrived on scene (3:43 AM) to discover visible flames inside of the structure, extending through the roof.
Fire scene operations were established, as personnel connected to a nearby water source and leapt to action. To assist with on-scene efforts, additional resources were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:44 AM.
Firefighters were able to successfully make entry into the single-story building to begin their initial fire attack. Flames were discovered in the kitchen and quickly doused with several gallons of pressurized water.
The restaurant was unoccupied at the time of the fire. All signs of flames were successfully extinguished without further incident, and no injuries were reported from the scene.
Fire Investigators determined that the area of origin was the kitchen. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, pending further investigation.
