Open Enrollment for Fire Explorer Program

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR FIRE EXPLORER PROGRAM Mobile Fire-Rescue Department will have an open enrollment opportunity for young men and women ages 15-20 to come learn about and join the department’s Fire Explorer program. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 12 from 7-8 p.m. at the Training Academy, located at 860 Owens Street off Virginia Street. The Explorer program is designed to give young people an opportunity to learn about the career of firefighting and emergency medical services. While it’s not a requirement, some past students have gone on to become firefighters and firemedics with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department as well as other departments. Anyone with questions can contact the programs coordinator, Captain Todd Norsworthy at 599-3524. There is a $10 registration fee that will allow the student to stay in the program for fifteen months. The fee includes liability insurance while involved in the program. ###
