One Injured at Apartment Fire

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org ONE INJURED AT APARTMENT FIRE Mobile Fire-Rescue Firefighters responded to an apartment fire early Tuesday morning, September 1 located at Stonewall Place. The caller reported smoke and fire visible at approximately 3:46 a.m. Firefighters arrived to report smoke visible from the two-story apartment building. One male occupant received burns to the hands when he attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher and was transported to USA Medical Center. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. The fire damaged four units at an estimate of approximately $100 thousand. No other injuries were reported. Engines 8, 9, 12; rescues 3, 23; truck 17 and District Chief John Young responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation. ###
