Two days later she began to experience breathing difficulties and called 9-1-1. Firemedics Tim Curry, a 4 year veteran and Jayson Nicholas, a 6 year veteran assigned to Rescue 18 arrived on the scene and began initial patient care and transported Mrs. Waltman back to the hospital. Their outstanding performance did not go unnoticed. A letter was received from Mr. Waltman, who was very thankful of their hard work and professionalism. In that letter he stated “It was their excellent training in emergency medical procedures that surely saved Mrs. Waltman’s life.” And “Please convey our heartfelt gratitude for us, we thank you very much.” “We also appreciate the day to day efforts that display their compassion and dedication to the Community and Fire Department.” Further proof of their dedication was demonstrated while accepting their award at the Opportunity Club one of the members began to experience chest pains and a fainting feeling. Nicholas and Curry sprang into action providing patient care until a Mobile Fire-Rescue Unit arrived and transported the patient to a local hospital. For this Tim Curry and Jayson Nicholas have been awarded the Firefighter of the Month Award jointly which was presented on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Tiny Diny by the Pleasant Valley Opportunity Club who sponsors the program. ###
