Navco Road Apartment Fire
MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 19:15 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews rushed to the scene of an apartment fire at Chaumont Apartments at 921 Navco Road. Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel on Engine 9 confirmed heavy smoke visible from the upstairs units of a 2-story apartment building. MFRD firefighters quickly jumped to action, as occupants were evacuating the building.
All occupants were safely evacuated from the entirety of the structure. As a part of normal fire scene operations, however, fire personnel fully searched apartment units in the immediate vicinity of smoke and flames, ensuring that no civilians were left inside. Firefighters were able to fight back flames, preventing the spread of fire to most of the building. Two apartment units sustained damage from smoke and flames, with one of the homes being ruled as a total loss.
No injuries were sustained during the incident. An investigation to determine a cause of the fire is ongoing.
